SONshine Preschool

Will your 5 year old be ready for kindergarten?

If you haven’t given that question much thought, we would like you to consider what a child entering kindergarten is required to know. Ten years ago knowing their shapes, colors, first and last name, and to sing their ABC’s was sufficient. Now, your child is expected to:

  • Recognize and print the entire alphabet, both upper and lower case
  • Know all the sounds each letter makes
  • Be able to write numbers 1-20
  • Be able to count to 50
  • Be able to write simple 3-letter words (dad, cat, mom, etc.)
  • Must print first name in proper upper and lower case letters

Each child entering kindergarten is given a placement test. How they score will determine how many days per week they will attend. SONshine Preschool will prepare them for this next step in a fun and safe environment.

The entire curriculum is taught from a Christian perspective. In this structured program, we teach good citizenship, manners and help the children practice the ‘golden rule’. SONshine Preschool is a well-rounded program. Along with a strong academic framework and socialization, the children enjoy lots of crafts, music and toys!

This program is recommended for any child just turning 4 that will be attending kindergarten the following year. For more information or a classroom visit please contact the director: Wendy Brann at 360.354.3694.
