How I spend my days off:

Read, do house chores, call children & my Mom, accomplish unfinished tasks, take a friend to lunch, make nice dinner for Paul, refresh.

What are some of my strengths:

Love people and try to bless in any way God leads, support Paul and be his biggest cheerleader, loyal to God’s call on my life and loyal to my family and friends, joyful spirit, decent writer, willing to do whatever needs to be done if it is within my power to do so.

My Education and Training:

One year at Northwest University – 10 years administrative and project management for the President’s Office at University of Washington, 7 years secretarial position at Pacific Northwest Bell, Youth Pastors 4 years, successfully built a Princess House Crystal business while serving as Youth Pastors in Seattle.

Favorite things about Word of Life:

EVERYTHING!!! Staff is the best!!!

My First Job:

Worked through High School at local drug store – went to work at Pacific Northwest Bell in Seattle after graduation.

My Favorites:

Book: Have so many I’ll have to think about this.
Restaurants: Palisades or Anthony’s at the Pier in Seattle

TV Show: Dr. Phil

My Most Annoying Habit:

Hmmmmm... you’ll have to ask Paul or my children.

Being expected to do for others what they aren’t willing to do for themselves.

Lance and Carisa Landry

Fun Facts:
Lance and Carisa have a male, German Short-haired Pointer mix dog named Rigby.  Rigby can sit, lay down, high five, heel, roll-over and our favorite, he can give a hug, which results in him burrowing his head into your chest when you’re on one knee and request a hug.  We are almost done teaching him “bang”, which is when he is sitting you make a gun with your fingers and exclaim, “Bang!”, to which he slumps down on the floor laying on his side.

Lance and Carisa enjoy almost all styles of food and think it is fun to try new dishes.

Carisa has a sweet tooth and Lance does not. 

Lance doesn’t like chocolate but his favorite movie is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971).

Carisa loves bacon but isn’t very found of pigs.

Starbucks Drink:

Carisa:  Vanilla Latte.

Lance:  Vanilla Latte with no foam or Black Coffee.

How I spend my days off:
Carisa enjoys rejuvenating through activities or just bumming around with Lance, family and friends.  Activities that I can be found doing are running, biking, hiking, taking the dog for a walk, running around town, or trying new restaurants.  If staying home I’m either reading a book, watching a movie, talking on the phone, or, my favorite, relaxing on the couch with Lance.

Lance enjoys laughing and spending time with Carisa, friends and family.  Some examples would be having a BBQ, doing something active (tennis/racquetball, playing catch, shooting hoops, playing board or video games, golf, skydiving and going for scenic rides on his motorcycle named Pearl) and attending sports or theater events.

What are some of my strengths:     
Lance and Carisa agree that they are most strong when God is the focus of their words and actions (Proverbs 3:3-6).  They both love God and love people.  They are faithful friends and confidants.  They are good listeners who can offer Bible centered encouragement when needed.  Lance and Carisa love celebrating with others when they reach a goal and attain new levels of spiritual growth and success in their lives.
            
My Education and Training:   
Carisa graduated from high school in Colorado Springs, CO.  She then went on to the University of Evansville in Evansville, IN majoring in Physical Therapy.  Just weeks before her senior year of university, God made it very clear that she was to leave Evansville and head back to Colorado Springs.  She ended up obtaining a nursing degree from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2002.

Lance graduated from Bellevue Christian with High Honors and lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track.  In 1995 and again in 2002 Lance coached 8^th grade boys basketball at BCS and both teams enjoyed the fruits of their labor which produced undefeated seasons in their respective years.  Lance graduated from Wheaton College in 1999 with a BA in Theology and Communications.  He was a member of the college acting troop, performing in such plays as A Midsummer Nights Dream and Fiddler on the Roof, while also enjoying the challenge of directing Barefoot in the Park and others.  During his time at Wheaton College he also lettered in football and baseball.  Lance has been the Director in Charge of several international missions trips, as well as, served in youth leadership at City Church in Kirkland, WA and Orchard Road Christian Church in Greenwood Village, CO.

Favorite things about Word of Life:

We have been so blessed by the faithful prayers and encouragement that has come from so many loving members at the New Word of Life.  Our experience with the people here at the New Word of Life has made us feel like family and we are so excited by what God is doing and will continue to do as we work together with servants’ hearts to see lives transformed through God’s love.

My First Job:
Carisa:  Cashier at the United States Air Force Academy Visitors’ Center gift shop.

Lance:  Picking strawberry’s in Maberry fields.

Carisa:  Constantly critiques adherence to supposed health code regulations during all dining experiences.

Lance:  Consistently inconsistent in placing articles of clothing in the proper place around the house.

History with Word of Life:

Carisa:  Can’t wait to see what “history” there will be to report when I look back over my time with Word of Life in the years to come.

Lance:  As the pastors’ son I attended when the church met at the BC Avenue location and was one of many volunteers that earned my Word of Life hat by giving time to help build the new facility that is currently were we meet today.  My ties to the church and community remained strong ever since childhood.  I’ve made numerous weekend trips to spend time with friends I’ve kept since elementary school and always stopped in for Sunday morning services where I enjoyed loving on and being loved on by faithful friends of the family that have continued to serve the Lord while attending WOL.

One Thing I Can’t Stand:
Carisa:  Inconsiderate people who don’t think about how their actions may negatively affect others.

Lance:  Bad drivers, especially those that don’t use their turn signals or understand what it means to merge.  Tied for first place in the “one thing I can’t stand” department are whiners, which basically is anyone who makes everything unexpected that happens in their life, whether great or small, out to be an emergency.

Fun Facts: I work for Logos Bible Software in the Sales Department and I make my living on commission by selling software to people around the world to help them understand the Bible better and be able to communicate it better to the people they know and minister with.

Starbucks Drink: Toffee Nut Latte, Whole Milk, with Whip and Toffee Nut Sprinkles. They of course have retired the sprinkles since they originally released this drink but man were they good when they had them. J

How I spend my days off: I spend most of my days off with my family. Taking my sons to the park or driving around. I like to drive. I also enjoy playing basketball and of course eating which you can see by my wonderful figure J

What are some of my strengths: I am definitely a leader. I enjoy making things happen and delegating things. My spiritual gifting is exhortation and so I often see people for what they can be rather than what they are.  I am a team player and I love people.

What are some of my Weaknesses: This wasn’t on the original questionnaire but if I am going to list some of my strengths I may as well list some of my weaknesses. I am a big picture guy. I enjoy casting a vision and equipping people to make it happen but I am not that great at details. I also have a hard time with people that aren’t moving ahead on things. I am completely fine with failure but I would like to see people failing forward and pushing on toward their goals.    
              
My Education and Training: K-12 and the wonderful experience gained from living of a life in Christ.  J I don’t think life is about what you know as much as who you know.

Favorite things about Word of Life: I love the staff. The Word of Life Staff have been so kind and welcoming to me since the day that I set foot in the building and I will never forget that. I also love the moments of worship that happen during the service when we aren’t singing a particular song but we are playing music and just praising our God with whatever comes to our mind. Usually at the end of the worship set we have a moment where we just continue to praise God without the restraints of lyrics and tempo. I live for those moments every week.

My First Job: My first job was watching kinds after school while they were waiting for their parents to pick them up after work. I used to money to pay my tuition at a school that I really wanted to attend when I was a junior in High school.

My Favorites:
Book:  Not much of a reader.
Restaurants:  Pad Thai in Bellingham, Thai House in Bellingham, and Mongolian Grill. I like Asian food. Asian Food is definitely my favorite.
Movies: Most likely Gladiator or Braveheart
TV Show:  24 is my favorite show by far.

My Most Annoying Habit: I am not sure I know but if you know me I guess you do. J

History with Word of Life: I just got here. I was made aware of the church while leading worship with my other worship band called Poiema and we heard there was a need and came. Through that experience I was made aware of the search for someone to lead regularly at Word of Life and I believe that God brought me here for that purpose and I am now just walking in that assignment from Him.

One Thing I Can’t Stand: I can’t stand it when people take the Bible out of context. I don’t like being in groups of people discussing what the Bible means to them. The Bible is God’s word and it does mean something. Discovering what the Bible “means” and “Who God IS” is an awesome thing but discussing “What the Bible means to me” or “Who God is to me” is a huge pet peeve of mine.
